Date/Time:  02/08/2009 1:30-4:00
Type:General Meeting
Location:Glen Ellyn Library
Teacher:LMSG-Marilyn Vanover

The February meeting will be a "stitch-in" and help session.  Bring your current project to work on and show off.  We all love to see the projects that are currently inspiring you.  Or, bring a project you are having trouble with.  Marilyn Vanover and Carol Schaal will be on hand to help you with that pesky stitch or technique that's been bugging you.  They'll both bring their reference books and, between them, should be able to assist you with a solution.

Highlights

We began our February meeting with a short business meeting. Joyce Reid summarized what was discussed at the February board meeting. The board has reviewed our guild bylaws and has recommended several changes. They will be posted on the guild website with the changes highlighted so members can review them and vote to approve them a future meeting.

The upcoming 2009 schedule was reviewd by Marilyn Vanover, our program chair:

  • In March. we will have a mini-project at the meeting, a Quaker Hornbook.
  • In April, Amy Keaton will present part 3 of her sampler collection.
  • There is no meeting in May.
  • In June, Margriet Hogue will present a wokshop. Deadline for signing up is March 31st. Ther teachers fee for the workshop will be about $75.

Marilyn Vanover brought in some cute little folded paper purses. She had several made up and invited us to take a sheet from the book to take home.

We had a preview of coming attractions: Mary Ann Anderson announced that the Phine Phriends will be doing a 2009 Anniversary project. We each received a booklet and worksheet and Mary Ann explained how each of us can contribute to the project. If you missed the meeting, more details will soon be available on this website.

We didn't have a formal program, but Carol Schaal and Marilyn Vanover were available to help with everyone's stitching questions. Marilyn brought a handout with a diagram on a different way to do queen stitches. She demonstrated the technique so we all could watch.

Carol bought her cording tools and helped members make twisted cord. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable meeting.

Hope to see everyone in March for the Quaker Hornbook!

We had three samplers for show and tell. Click on the link below for a description and picture.
