in.Three sides were hemstitched; bottom edge is a selvage. Stitches: back, cross, darning, double running, four-sided, all worked over two threads; square eyelet over four threads; counted satin. Inscriptions: TI, A, P a, GI, ST, SS; 1674 Collection of Magriet Hogue. This embroidery and five other samplers with the distinctive horse, peacock , and clasped hands holding a flower, as well as a series of repeat-pattern bands, all belong to a group made in Westfriesland (Netherlands) in the last half of the 17th century and first quarter of the 18th.
