Are you on keeping up with the 2003 project schedule? If not, here's your chance to catch up! We're going to have a stitch in so bring along your Sweet Bag. Members will be available to answer any questions you have about the project. We'll have a great time comparing experiences and admiring everyone's work. If you're not participating in the 2003 project, you're still welcome to come. Just bring along your current project and show us what you're working on. A special free kit will be given to all those who attend the meeting!

Highlights

Leslie Lewis, our president, did introductions for our June meeting. She talked about the June 7th workshop "Elegant Sewing Accessories in Stumpwork" presented by Marsha Papay-Gomola.  Everyone who attended was very impressed with Marsha's work, her organization, her teaching ability and the outstanding quality of her kit. The workshop was given rave reviews by all who attended. Many commented that her work is exquisite and the butterflies and birds on her models looked so real that they looked like they could fly away!

There were a few announcements. The deadline for signing up for Merry Cox is June 15th, so get those workshop signup forms sent to Kathy Bourne. We have quite a few people registered for the workshops and many are from out of state. If you are interested in the July Linn Skinner workshop, please contact Kathy Joassin ASAP. Marilyn Fettinger explained that the website had been down because our Internet Service Provider (ISP) was changing over to new servers. It is working again and hopefully we should have no more long outages.

Next on the agenda was the surprise gift for all attendees. Each was wrapped in different color tissue paper and all the packages were lined up on a table at the front of the room. The gifts were passed out, we opened them up and discovered they contained a delightful kit "Spring Garden" by Indigo Rose. We received a generous piece of linen, threads attached to a card shaped like a flower and the chart.  Leslie had a completed model that she passed around the room for us to admire. If you'd like to have one of the kits, the extras will be available for purchase at future meetings. See Leslie for more information. Thanks go to Jan Girolamo for the putting the kits together and for the wonderful packaging. The tissue paper wrapping even matched the thread colors! Thanks also to the others who were involved in this kit!

Then it was time for show and tell. Janet Zak showed us two projects she has recently completed, A Wedding Sampler by Teresa Wentzler and an adaptation of a Williamsburg sampler, Mary Victor dated 1764. We all loved the stylized cow!

Kathy Joassin shared a piece she finished that Sharon Cohen designed for the Scarlet Letter  titled "The Four Elements- Earth" This piece used very long stitches especially in the skirt of the women's dress.

Jane Stevens showed us a very impressive wedding sampler that she completed titled "Celtic Banner" by Butternut Road. We were in awe over the size of the sampler (over four foot long) and the excellent work!

Last, Leslie showed those who were interested how to do slips which are used in the 2003 project. Kathy brought several books that showed different techniques for doing buttonhole stitch. Others who attended just enjoyed stitching on the projects they brought along. We had a good time talking to one another and seeing what everyone else was working on.
