Yes it’s a Friday, but it will be your lucky day! Save this date – we are making arrangements for a curator led tour of the exhibit “Fabric of a New Nation: American Needlework adn Textiles, 1776-1840” at the Chicago Art Institute. This will be our meeting date instead of our usual second Sunday this month. We will be meeting in the Textiles Room at 1030am as our tour will start promptly at 1045am . Admission to the Chicago Art Institute is $18.00 (unless you are already a member). There is a coat check available, no bags or totes are allowed other than your purse. Transportation is on your own (groups can create carpools if desired). Sign up is due by March’s meeeting date. If more than 20 people sign up, we will try to create an afternoon tour. The tour will last approximately 1-1 1/2 hours, then who’s up for lunch after?
Update 3/11/12: We have three open spots left for the 1045 am tour! Please contact Karyn Pechinski if you would still like to sign up to attend. Since we have had less than 20 people sign up for the tour, we will only be booking the morning tour.
Our tour on Friday, April 13th was so informative and wonderful. It is truely inspiring what these young girls and women were able to create in this era and that with a little love and care it is still here for us to look at with amazement. Get stitching everyone! There is no meeting in May, so we will hope to see you at the June meeting.
