Jane Pratt Workshop

Date: 11/11/2006
Time: 9:30-4:00
Type: Workshop
Location: Buehler YMCA
Teacher: Joanne Harvey

On Saturday, November 11, Joanne Harvey will present the Jane Pratt sampler. In the study of American samplers, one can identify unique regional characteristics. Ribbon surrounds are found on various embroideries in the Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania area. The 1795 Jane Pratt sampler still retains its original scalloped and embroidered ribbon surround. Jane Pratt was born March 5, 1785, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and married Nathan Garrett on September 18, 1811. The design of her work closely resembles samplers executed under the instruction of Mary Askew. The piece will be worked on 36 count lambswool linen using Cross, Satin, Stem, and Queen Stitches in D.M.C. Silk material will be provided for the outer embellishment.

Kit cost $90. Teaching fee TBD.
